For Immediate Release, September 12, 2012

James Ramos announced the endorsement of Supervisor Janice Rutherford in his campaign for county Supervisor today. Supervisor Rutherford was elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2010 and has led efforts to restore the faith in County Government. The endorsement is a major development in the highly contested race for 3rd District Supervisor as Supervisor Rutherford supports Ramos over incumbent Neil Derry.

“San Bernardino County needs a fresh face and new ideas in the Third District. The right leader can help us turn things around and restore the public trust,” said Supervisor Rutherford. “James Ramos is that leader. He is a small business owner who knows how to create jobs and balance the books. That’s what we need to get our county back on track.”

Rutherford’s endorsement is an illustration of eroding support for Neil Derry. Earlier this year Derry’s fellow Supervisor Josie Gonzales announced her support of Ramos.

“Derry’s failures on the Board of Supervisors make it tough for anyone to support him at this point, ” said Ramos spokesman Andre Levesque. “Each time James gains a new supporter it makes Derry’s election odds that much greater. James’ overwhelming community support is going to make it difficult for Derry to recover from his weak second place finish in June.”

For Immediate Release, September 10, 2012

Highland, CA – Republican Assemblyman, and leading candidate for the open 8th Congressional District, Paul Cook, announced his support of James Ramos for 3rd District Supervisor today. Cook adds his name to a list of high ranking Republicans from the area that already includes Congressman Jerry Lewis, Senator Bill Emmerson, Assemblyman Curt Hagman and former Assembly Republican Leader Bill Leonard among others.

“I’m supporting James Ramos for Supervisor simply because he is the best candidate to get our county back on track,” said Cook. “In November, voters should cast their vote for who they believe can bring integrity back to the Board of Supervisors, restore fiscal order and creates jobs. James is the only candidate I trust to do that for San Bernardino County and that’s why he has my support.”

Paul Cook currently represents portions of the 3rd Supervisorial District in the State Legislature; he was elected to that position in 2006 after serving on the Yucca Valley Town Council. Before he began his career in politics, Cook served in the United States Marine Corps for 26 years and retired at the rank of Colonel.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, June 22, 2012

(SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY) – The latest sign that James Ramos’ campaign is picking up post primary election momentum is the announcement of the endorsement of the San Bernardino County Public Attorneys Association today.

Neil Derry’s dismal showing on June 5th signaled problems for his re-election campaign and has cost him dearly as major endorsers such as the San Bernardino County Public Attorneys Association and the San Bernardino County Safety Employee Benefits Association are endorsing James Ramos.

“In June two thirds of the electorate voted against the incumbent.” said Ramos Spokesman Andre Levesque. “Now two major donors, who supported him financially in the past are endorsing James Ramos. Neil Derry’s campaign doesn’t look very impressive right now and people are starting to realize he has no chance of winning in November.”

Small Business Owner James Ramos is a member of the San Bernardino Community College Board of Trustees. James and his wife Terri have been married for 22 years and live in Highland with their four children.

County’s Largest Law Enforcment Organization Throws Support Behind Ramos

For Immediate Release, June 12, 2012

(SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY) Today the Board of Directors of the San Bernardino County Safety Employee’s Benefit Association announced the endorsement of James Ramos for 3rd District Supervisor. SEBA is San Bernardino County’s largest law enforcement organization. SEBA is comprised of the San Bernardino County Deputy Sheriffs and District Attorney Investigators. Their membership has grown to include Coroner Investigators, Welfare Fraud Investigators, Probation Corrections Officers, and Specialized Fire Services. The endorsement shows that Ramos, the overwhelming primary election night winner, continues to unify support behind him heading into the November election run-off.

James Ramos commented on the endorsement, “I’m proud to have the support of a growing list of law enforcement officials and organizations in this election, they, like all of my supporters, recongize that we need a change of leadership to fix the problems with gang and crime we have in San Bernardino County. I look forward to working with SEBA to solve those problems.”

James Ramos is a member of the San Bernardino Community College Board of Trustees. He has also served as a member of the State Board of Education, the first ever Native American to serve in that role. He holds a BA in Business Accounting and Administration from California State University San Bernardino and an MBA from the University of Redlands. James and his wife Terri live in Highland with their four children.

The Facts Are Clear

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, June 12, 2012

Fact 1: Votes Indicate Strong Support For Ramos: The primary election shows Ramos was the outright winner of 60% of precincts and received a little more than 47% of the vote. Compared to Neil Derry and Jim Bagley respectively receiving 32% and 21%.

Any election expert will tell you that any incumbent that receives less than 40% of the vote in the primary indicates serious doubts about their electability and they rarely turn things around in time to win the run-off.

Fact 2: Ramos enjoys strong cross party support: In addition to the overall support, Ramos appears to hold strong bi-partisan support among all parties. Insider polling two weeks before Election Day suggested Ramos was leading Derry and Bagley among almost every demographic and political party. This proves Ramos’ focus on job-creation, solving crime problems and cleaning up county government are popular among all demographics in the area. Proving the non-partisan Supervisor election has voters basing votes on issues rather than political partisanship.

Fact 3: Campaign Finance Advantage: Campaign finance records show that Neil Derry spent over $100,000 more than he raised as of the mid-May reports. Alternatively James Ramos has proven to be a prolific fundraiser. He did not spend all of his money in the primary election and will be starting the November election with a positive war chest.

Fact 4: November Turnout Favors Ramos:November turnout favors Ramos. Initial returns before the statement of the vote is released suggest that Ramos received the most significant support in the valley areas such as the city of San Bernardino, Redlands and Highland. These areas have a combined 3-1 population advantage over the rural areas such as Big Bear, Oak Glen and the Lucerne Valley. The higher turnout suggests Ramos’ lead will only increase in a November turnout that will be more than 70% (Turnout countywide in November 2008 was 74.28%).

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, June 6, 2012

(SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CA) – The June primary election results show Small Business Owner James Ramos is poised to win a November election over Neil Derry after posting a 14 point primary election win. The results currently show James Ramos with a 46.72% of the vote with the next highest vote getter far behind at 32.84% (Neil Derry) and third place canddiate Jim Bagely at 20.25%.

“I’m very happy with the election results,” said James Ramos. “The current returns show that more than 67% of voters voted for change last night. I am humbled to be the top vote getter by such a large margin and will continue to build on that into the November run-off election.”

Ramos campaign spokesperson Andre Levesque commented on the results saying, “Incumbents that receive less than a third of the vote in a primary don’t win re-election. This campaign has been about offering voters a choice to vote for change. Voters are speaking with their ballot, and they are saying they want change.”

(SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CA) – Candidate for 3rd District Supervisor James Ramos announced the endorsement of Supervisor Josie Gonzales, Chair of the Board of Supervisors for his campaign today. Gonzales joins a growing bipartisan group of San Bernardino County’s leading public officials supporting Ramos. The endorsement is noteworthy as James is challenging incumbent Supervisor, Neil Derry, for election.

“Any time a challenger receives the endorsement of the incumbent’s colleague it indicates serious vulnerabilities,” said Ramos spokesperson Andre Levesque. “James has been running on a message of bringing faith back to the county government, the voters want it, the community wants it and now it appears that even Derry’s fellow board members want change.”

Ramos now has the endorsements of leading community leaders such as; Congressman Jerry Lewis, Senator Bill Emmerson, former Supervisor Dennis Hansberger, former Sheriff Gary Penrod and dozens of other community leaders, elected officials and individuals from around the District.
